LEGAL
I have been able to avoid all legal ISSUES in creating my
music video through strictly sticking to all guidelines and BBCF ratings. The
British board of film classification mainly focuses its job on aiding children
and families in choosing what would be appropriate for them to view and what
would not be appropriate by providing guides and age ratings alongside the
film/videos in the brief for my music video it was strictly stated that the
music video must not exceed their rating of 12a and when creating my video, I
have ensured to follow that. Looking at the BBFC guidelines my music video is
likely to be a PG as I have ensured there is no violent behaviour drugs or
sexual behaviour showed in the video. The song I have chosen along with the
video is appropriate and contains no use of inappropriate languages so that
children can view this video with parental guidance without feeling
uncomfortable or upset by it. In my video I have also ensured I followed the
OFCOMS rules and regulations. OFCOMs is the office of communications which is a
government approved regulatory and competition authority for all broadcasting
and similar industries in the UK. They ensure that under 18s are protected from
inappropriate content and I have ensured in my music video follows their
guidelines by not involving any content that could be offensive or inappropriate.
Another regulation of the Ofcom’s is to ensure no content can encourage or
influence acts of crime so in my video I have ensured that no elements of the
video or the song would encourage such behaviours. in my video I will be relating back to the uses and gratification theory by creating my music video with clips that preset a narrative to divert the audience from their lives.
To help avoid any legal trademark issues I have ensured that
there are no large or obvious brand logos in my video, any scenes that are filmed
in public areas I will ensure that all members of the general public that are caught
on camera will be blurred out of the clip to ensure them, or any brand logos
are not visible. Another way that in my video I will avoid legal trademark
issues is by ensuring that the camera when shooting focuses solely in the actor
themselves and ensuring that their clothes have no brands or logos. In the brief
it states that the content of my video must be 70% entirely my own footage
which gives me the creative freedom to use clips from other resources to create
the video. To access these clips, they will need to be royalty free or have
permission to be freely use by using websites like pexles I can be sure that
these videos raise no legal issues.
Data and personal information of the crew including actors
and filming staff will be kept confidential to help maintain their privacy. For
the filming I have gained full consent from actor and their parents/carers in
the actor consent forms to ensure they fully consent to the video. I have also
obtained permission to film in public spaces and ensured that there were no
legal issues with those filming locations. Some of my scenes involve the actors
being featured in a public space/setting but due to it being a public space any
issues have been removed as people in such a space can be expected to be looked
at or caught on a camera in footage. When filming I will ensure that I respect
the public and the environment I am in. I will endure that there is no loud
music played and ensure that the filming is done quietly and respectfully any
litter will be left in a bin to ensure that there is no mess or vandalising
left in the area for filming. When filming we will ensure that we do not
obstruct any public areas or pathways and effect any of the public’s day to day
activities. I have made sure that none of the actors or people are presented in
a negative light to avoid any slander or negative perspectives of the people.
When filming my video, it is my responsibility to ensure the safety of all the
actors and people working on the creating of the music video. To ensure their
safety I have carried out multiple risk assessments to ensure that there is no immediate
danger for them and ensure that all equipment and locations do not cause any
danger to them.
ETHICAL
Stuart halls representation theory defines stereotypes as
everything that is necessary to know about an individual can be know and acknowledged
by traits of stereotype and ignoring all complexes. I have ensured that in my
music video does not represent my actors specify. I have made sure to avoid
negative stereotypes around the actors and their roles.
Stuart halls reception theory displays the idea that media
texts are made by the producer with messages and scenes to be decoded and interpreted
by the audience. In my video I have displayed a young girl continually
suffering with grief and loss and seemingly not being able to know how to
correctly deal with that grief. Hopefully an audience will be able to be decode
by the end of the video the message that I hope to give which displays the idea
that pushing the feelings away and ignoring them doesn’t help it evidently just
makes them worse and that dealing with the emotions and handling feelings is
the healthiest way to deal with it for the individual.
